Middle Gear Whine is the sound the beveled output Gears make when the Bike is in motion at about 40 MPH and above.

    The Video:

Listening to the Short rip of sound in the Video ...
I'm NOT sure what I heard.
But, I didn't see any birds ... did hear some chirping.

Do a Timing Chain Tension Reset ... what the heck???
The exercise is easy and costs nothing to do.

is there a write up on how to do it? Ive never done a reset before but I did destroy a motorcycle ((my gs650)broke the timing chain after I ran it) once trying to work on an automatic chain tensioner so I'm a little hesitant to mess with it.

After i listened to the video again it almost sounds like the bike is whistling.. Could this be an exhaust leak? The bike did spill before and this is 2 years of putting it back together and I know the one muffler bracket is pushed up. You can see the exhaust high difference in the video. If you look at the right side you will notice it is pushed up. I wonder if it might be leaking?

    Take it OUTSIDE.

Have a couple of people participate.
    Everybody block-off one ear.
    Run it.
Everybody point to where they hear the squeal coming from.
Look for trouble in that common area.

I listened to the clip a couple of times however the res was so low I think that the audio may have suffered. I did pick up a Craftsman electronic stethoscope some years ago which is perfect for pinpointing engine noises.

    @clipper

Yeh its really crappy quality But the whine is genuine. I will try to get a better video from my digi cam when i get a chance. I took that with my cell. How expensive are the stethoscopes?

Mine has a cam chain noise going down large mountain type hills and sometimes upon release of the clucth from a dead stop. To reset the automatic tensioner you have to remove it, loosen the set nut, push the lever/ latch down at the teeth of the shaft to move the tensioner back into itself, reinstall it then tighten the nut again. IM pretty sure thats how I did mine but didnt remove the noise. Noise could be the starter chain also just at a guess.

When you try this, ... have somebody assist you. When you do the "Reverse move" ... have an assistant ... "Tapping (Drumming, bumping, knocking-on, lightly hitting) ... the Hex Fitting on the END of the Tensioner.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Pull the Plugs. Left-side Crank Cover. Wrench the Flats on Timing Rotor.
Rotate the Engine 2 Full Revolutions in the Clockwise motion to present the Chain tightly in front of the Tensioner, coming to a slow halt.

(The Chain is tight coming down off the Intake Cam Sprocket across the front of the Tensioner and under the Crankshaft Sprocket.)

Then, ... Quickly ... Rotate the Engine Counter-clockwise ... bringing any slack up around the Crankshaft Sprocket and presenting it before the Auto-Tensioner on its way to the Intake Cam Sprocket.

This is where you need the Tapping.

The Auto-Tensioner will move out to tighten the Chain as is passes before the Tensioner up to the Intake Cam.

You may need to REPEAT the process a few times to get all the slack removed automatically.

On the second and third attempt (if necessary ... rotate the Crank at least 2 Turns Clockwise and then do a QUICK reset.)
