    Easy......

    1. remove your seat
    2. remone the bolt holding the end of the tank
    3. lift the end and wiggle/pull the tank toward the seat a couple of inches
    4. tilt the tank to the right a little , now reach under the left side of the tank and disconnect both the fuel line and the vacuum line from the petcock. lift the tank away from the bike.

There's onlt three mounts that hold `the tank on...two round ones near the front the tank slides onto, and the olne at the `back that has the bolt.

If you need more help, let me know.

Isn't there a connector for the fuel level sending unit that needs to be disconnected too on the Maxim?

    Oh, yeah....

4a. after disconnecting the fuel an vacuum lines, lift the tank away jus a bit and disconnect the fuel sending unit wire...it's a small white plastic harness clip just about in line with the left end of the battery as you straddle the bike. I prefer to reconnect it after putting the wire under the tank mount crossmember, but I've seen many that squeeze it over the top. I don't like to pinch wires if I don't need to, and my lead is long enough to go underneath.
