Sadly we know that only the europeans have the oprtunity to have one of those. Why? because in America people doesn't like naked bikes. Sad!!

Add that to the list of cool vehicles we will never see in the US.

Whether it be automobiles or motorcycles for some reason someone decided that Americans are supposed to like under-engineered, boring vehicles that lack finesse.

You can still buy wrecked pieces form the UK and put one together. Nothing wrong with that!

The '05 had much more reasonably-sized dual mufflers.

Not so schooter, the FJR1300 is a liquid cooled motor and shaft driven ,as opposed to the XJR,s chain drive and air cooling. It also puts out more power than the XJR, according to specs (105kw), Sorry my American cousins, but we get the XJR1300 downunder as well.

Been lusting after one of those for years. I agree that the 05 was the best looking one. One of the guys on the XS site went to the Yamaha store and asked if they would import one for him. He was told not only no but hell no. Dealer would lose their franchise. Next time I'm in EU I think a used one in parts might make the trip across the pond in a crate. Think XJ1100 with all the modern equipment and a motor on steroids

I was tempted to buy one about 18 months ago and had decided if I didn't get the bike I was bidding on that I would, however I won the auction so I didn't go ahead with it

A friend has a slightly earlier XJR1200 which is also a very nice bike

I'm with Pathebert on this one. I'll wait and buy one used and bob it. Stock sucks, so I can always make it better.

So....why doesn't yamaha sell them here? Does Yamaha HATE america!! Just kidding...does america hate those kinds of bikes that much? Can't sell enough to make a profit? Ducati has the monster, and the streetfighter, and a sport classic.

I want a mix of all three, and the XJR is it! Why can't I have what I want!!!

OMG! May not be able to get one here in the States (WAAAHHHHH!) but with enough pics and internet searching might be able to turn one of ours into a clone. In actuality the XJ6/ABS is what I was planning on making my 82 XJ750 look like with a different looking shroud and more pronounced belly pan. Just wasn't sure how the tail would look but now I see...and a combo of the 1300's tail mixed with the XJ6/ABS' belly and shroud would be a very sweet combo.
