For any interchangeability question, I usually let Yamaha themselves tell me: http://www.babbittsonline.com/pages/par ... fault.aspx

Step 1: Look up your part number in "OEM Part Diagrams Look Up by Model Fit." Highlight, right-click and 'copy' it.

Step 2: Click on "Pick New Model" which will take you back to the search page. Under "Quick Part Look Up" select "Yamaha" and 'paste' your part number in and click "quick look up." You will get a listing of all the years and models that particular part number was used in.

If you're talking about the "pull rod" that lifts against the inside of the pressure plate, there are THREE parts there: The pull rod itself, a flat needle bearing, and a plate washer. The needle bearing is sandwiched between the pull rod (Yamaha calls it a push rod) and the plate washer so the bearing does not ride directly on the inside of the pressure plate.

All of those parts are still available from Yamaha, I'm sure chacal carries them as well, and they were used on just about every XJ550, 600, 650, 750 and 900.

Just be sure you get all 3 pieces.

Yes there is. Those tabs on the plain plates get staggered; and the one friction plate with the larger OD and the giant ring washer goes in the 3rd spot in from the outside.

See: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=22927.html for a corrected exploded view, and how the tabs get oriented, etc.
