Well, I was on my way home from work on my Rebel 250 that I literally just got. I'm riding it until I finish building my XJ then I'm handing it over to my wife. I work 21.4 miles from my house and as I was only a quarter mile away it happened. Some dumb b**** wasn't paying attention and slammed into the back of my rebel so hard that it cause my bike to well, not really roll, more slide, up a good 5 feet into the car in front of me. I saw it coming in the rear view but had moving traffic in all lanes around so all I could do was grab the clutch and brake and hold on tight. Fortunately no one was hurt, and my bike did not fall over. After it happened I sped off around the corner and then came back. When I got back I told the girl that I only left to breathe for a second because I wanted to punch her in the face, but I was raised better than that. The cops came and took our info but no tickets. Honestly I could have told them to check her phone records because she was looking down but I just wanted to get away from her. The funny part is that my rebel only has a small scuff that really can be buffed out, and it bent the license plate bracket a little. Her SUV on the other hand....hahahaha. The chrome end of my tag light went through and cracked her bumper. Oh and the girl that I got bumped into was ok. My front tire scuffed her back bumper but we were able to just rub bthe rubber off. Fortunately the kids that were in the back seat were also ok.
**** I know you are ticked, but please mind the language. Thanks!****

Glad you're okay. We really need to get something going with these wireless phones.

Yeah, I think it should be mandatory that they check everyone's call record and last message sent and recieved.

...and take away their licenses for a year if found calling/texting. My wife's car was totalled this past Spring due to a 19YO community college student leaving school, travelling at a high rate of speed on a 2-lane road and not paying any attention (texting suspected). Her neck/back/shoulders are still out of whack after several months' physical therapy.

Man that could have been so much worse than it turned out. Glad to hear your okay. You should get the bike checked out it doesnt take a whole bunch to bend the forks.

rather than checking records, i would like to see manufacturers take a preventative approach. when there is cellular activity in a vehicle, the vehicle should de-rate to say 25 mph. its already in effect in some class 8 scanias.

glad you are still with us, this texting is going to take its toll before something real is done.

People just never pay attention.. I was sideswiped onto a median by a truck not payin attention..
I think the worst wreck from being rearended for me was a Camaro ran straight into the back of my pickup. I was stopped and he hit at about 35mph. Put the engine in his lap cause of my tow hitch. Smashed up a motorcycle that was in front of me which in turn broke the back window out of a minivan full of screaming kids o_O
People suck.. And NEED to pay attention.
They always tell me to "Ride safe on that thing" I usually reply, "Its not me, its the other people on the road that scare me"
Glad you're ok buddy. Get back on the horse!

man glad your ok, What I usually do when I'm at a stop, is to make sure I have enough room, usually two bike lengths between me and the car in front of me so I can avoid this from happening. It happen to me a few years ago and I learned a valuable lesson.

I am very thankful of the outcome of the whole scenario. As for getting back on it's gonna take a lot more to keep me off my two wheels. Don't take this the wrong way because I love that little rebel, but she better thank whoever she worships that she didn't hit my XJ.

Check that your rear wheel is still running true, check that your rear wheel adjuster are not pooched, check that your swingarm is in alignment, check that your spokes are all tight. In other words, give the bike a good going over, from the impact you describe you would be very fortunate that there is absolutely nothing wrong. Then get a good lawyer and sue her ass off. I don't know the laws where you live but talking on a cell while causing an accident is a big NO-NO here!
It's getting near the end of the riding season and it'd be a b**** to put it away and then find out several months from now that you do have problems, by then it may be too late to litigate for damages.
    2 cents.

True you can't see pain on an xray, I'd get looked at just the same, then file a claim for pain and suffering.

I'm sure you are all nice people but I'll bet dollars to doughuts that none of you all have x-ray vision. Have the frame checked with a straight edge by a competent repair techician. I wouldn't ride it until it came back with a clean bill of health, bill forwarded to the nice lady that hit you.
