    Hi All
When lifting the cylinder block off the pistons on myXJ 650 some crap off the studs fell into the crankcase. It looks like small grains of sand of some kind. Was able to get most of it out with cotton buds and a vacume cleaner but can still see some sitting at the bottom of the crank. Can I flush this out sucsessfully with petrol or diesel or something. Would appreciate some feed back.
    Regards Brian

I use a Little Giant pump wrapped in a cloth sitting in a dishpan and circulate mineral spirits for an hour then let drain over night. Pan is put under the case drain. Pump discharge in the top. The cloth keeps it from pumping particulate. Crud stays in the dishpan.

Spend the few extra minutes to unbolt the sump.

If you dropped sand in your engine, you could use a gallon of diesel, and a catch pan, and rinse the engine out, filter with a paint filter, rinse again.

If you leave the sump on, you'll just be moving the sand around.
You'll have the cleanest engine on the site !!
Make sure you pre-oil the motor(spin with plugs out)
