Just bought an 81 XJ650 in NC. Wingnut325 is picking it up Saturday if my check doesn't bounce..... Wingnut will do the heavy lifting and I get stuck with making it pretty. What are good products for cleaning up chrome and paint

    Happy days ae here again

Congratulations on your new XJ! For chrome I like Never Dull. For paint I wash with a car soap then wax with Mothers. I also like Mothers aluminum and mag wheel polish for the bare aluminum parts. Some here like Autosol.

Thanks for the advise. The bike needs some front fork work and the seat is trashed. All the fluids need changing and it appears it sat outside for the last year.

looks like it will be a good project.

Well here is the finial product as far as I'm concerned. Carbs, forks, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, rear brakes, tank, cables, gages, switchs, exhaust system, fuse block, triple tree bearings all inspected, relpaced or re-conditioned. It runs sweet!! but don't worry we left plenty for Johndo rub and polish on.

Nice job, it's looking great, I love to see these old beauties get restored, not chopped up, (my apologies other gang XJ'ers that do that) I just like them near the way they came, with simple mods like pipe's, jetting and custom paint jobs & polishing, it's just my taste.

I guess, I have to say that I love a well done hot rod! A classy looking car or truck that's hopped up and tricked out. SWEET!

But, That restoration back to original.... done tastfully. WOW! I love it!
To me, thats take some real talent and patience, not that the other custom works dont.

Like as Robert said, Just My Preferance.

Call it old school, old timer....whatever
