Started stripping down my 82 xj 650 this morning. This is my first project bike and im wanting to create a nice bear bones bobber. I'm wanting to weld up a hardtail for it when i get there, but dont really have the knowledge or the welder for that so i may end up goin with struts or just lowering the rear end and leaving the suspension. Winters are long here is SD so im not sure what'll happen yet. Ive pulled off most of what needs to come off excluding messing with the engine and elecrical for now since im not sure when ill be able to start choppin on it. lemme know what you guys think or if you have an tips on what i should do.

Nice bike to start with. Find someone who welds and see it they'll do it after hours for you. If you do all the cutting and fitting it's not much work to weld it all in. Pipe fitters are a good place to look they usually have a mobile welder.
