Has anyone built a custom gauge cluster of their own?

    Im thinking about getting rig of my dated guages and building up a modern cluster that includes a place for the original neuteral, oil and turn signal parts WITH speakers and iPhone / iPod mount.

    Id like to see if anyone has ideas or concerns.

    I found a app to take the place of speedometer with trip meter and compass.

    I'm curious to see what people have done as well.

    My gauge cluster project is finding a way to wire my tach and speedo into a custom written Android interface on my phone. It would be pretty sweet to have bright digital gauges. That is of course until someone calls when I'm going down the road...

    Can you legally remove the odometer where you live?

    That would be my first concern.

    if it breaks what good is it to the DMV?

    Iwingameover, you have a legit question.

    In Oklahoma, we dont have yearly inspections soooo... Im thinking its not a concern.

    I thought more about it and it's probably not. You would just mark the unknown mileage box on the title should you ever sale it.

    Mine's on it's 3rd cluster, one was ugly and faded, one the needles broke and now the one that's on there. So who knows what it's actual miles are even if it had the correct speedo on it when I got it which I doubt because there were some in a box that came with it.

    In Wisconsin bikes over 10 years old are exempt from reporting mileage. Don't know for sure if that means you can remove the odometer tho.
