    On eBay there is a xj750 gas tank for sale, the Item number: 4615460553 by bikepartsoutlet. Only 1 day 12 hours left as of February 24, 2006 (08:20am). It looks a little rough but looks like it can at least be a start.

    Yikes - that tank is pretty hurting... I suspect that the inside is every bit as glamerous as the outside.

    I guess if you got it for $30 you could fill the dings, sand it properly, and have a decent looking tank... the crack is the one that would worry me the most.

    In that light, maybe it is a good deal... shipping with ebay is always the killer.

    Be warned that is one junk yard dog of a tank.

    It's going to have to be sandblasted, have the crack welded & ground, then try to remove the dents. Whatevers left will have to be filled. Plus you'll probably want to have it acid washed on the inside and coated. And then after all that there's paint.

    Assuming it survives all that and the metal's in good shape, you're looking at some big $$ to get it repaired. If you have a shop restore it for you, that'll be easily over $600 Canadian. Gets cheaper the more work you can do to it.

    BAH

    The weld any local shop could do - the tank you could cream line - the sanding could be done by hand and the dents could be filled as is with a careful hand.

    Then it could be spray painted with the little hand held jobbies - someone recently posted their amazing results with spray cans.

    If you didn't want it to be restored to shop quality, you could probably buy the supplies, pay for the welding, the tank and shipping and get it done for ~$100.

    BUT - there is a risk of course that it won't turn out well and that the tank is already too far gone.

    Thanks guys, but I didn't want it for myself. Just have noted that others on site where looking for 750 tanks, just trying to help others. But again thanks.
