The stud with the nut on it is for a single battery lead and the spades on the sides go to the different loads. Great for add ons but will not work as a main fuse panel on these bikes.

It does look good if you want to put multiple aux items on the bike each with their own fuse w/o using inline fuses for each one.

When I put my Vetter on I'm going to use one of those to power up my extras.

Metal Bob, you must have added fuses to the Vetter for your ad ons or did it come with a harness with its own fuse panel?

I have installed a new 6 fuse block (from chacal). The 5th fuse is currently running my new horns. The 6th fuse is empty, but I have plans for it.

By default, most of the Vetter harnesses (fairing side) was wired for 1 or 2 aux items. Typically it was at 12v Cigarette lighter and/or fairing installed horns.

The "newer" Vetter fairings have 9 pins, typically they are:

Fairing - Function - Yamaha color
White - High Beam - Yellow
Yellow - Low Beam - Green
    Black - Ground - Black
Violet - Left Turnsignal - Brown
Blue - Right Turnsignal - Dark Green
Green - Running Lights - Light Blue - Didn't know that... Mine are not connected
    Red - Lighter (Option) - Light Brown - ???
    Brown - Horn (+) - Battery (+)
Orange - Horn Button - Pink

I would not recommend using the horn setup unless it came with it. Use a relay and new fuse (see my WIP electrical post).

The Red Lighter wires should have an inline fuse (near the 9 pin connector). The ground for the lighter is tapped into the normal black ground wire.

Unless you plan on mounting AUX items INTO or very close to the fairing, I'm not sure it's best to use the plugs.

I plan on installing my 12V Cig Ligher and USB adaptor under the seat or similar. That way I can charge my phone (in my pocket) while riding.

I may change my mind later, but I also have to watch that I don't attach to many aux items.

See this page for fairing install instructions and good info and/or ask me when ready. http://craigvetter.com/pages/Vetter_Fairings/All_Vetter_instructions.html

FYI: If you have a Windjammer SS/IV/V with the headlight adjuster knob, don't unscrew it from the bucket. Grind down a wrench and unscrew the knob the proper way for easier assembly/diassembly. *grumbles to self*

EDIT: I only have the headlight and blinkers connected currently.
EDIT2: I do have a Cycle Sound radio shell for the Windjammer. I'd probably use the RED aux wire to power the radio with appropriate fuses as needed.
    EDIT3: I fixed the link

I'm trying to figure out what would be the best way to modify the mounting bracket. Its off of a 79 XS850. The frame is alittle different and yes this fairing has the headlight adjustment knob just below the windsheild. So what happens if I try to unscrew it?

If you unscrew it, it will come off just fine.... Getting it back on is a BITCH...

Which bike are you trying to install it on? Check craigs's sight and comments about mounting location/angles. I can all take more pictures of the bracket/frame or go look thru my photobucket folders.

Maybe you should ask some of this in my Vetter post :)

thanks for the help i will get a dedicated fuse block then. ill upload pics soon. got to tearing into the electrical and it had no fuse block. just cut and twisted wires with inline fuses all 20A. hopefully this is partly its cause for hard starts.

I tried putting one of these on my 650 seca when it was all the local NAPA had in stock. I couldn't get any juice to flow through it though, ended up having to get something different.
