Silver ones are for the 650 Seca and don't have screw holes, they mount with 2-sided adhesive.

I'm not aware of any screw-mounted silver ones.

Ohhhhhh....well, then I guess cancel the idea. So you're saying that the 80 XJ650 came from the factory with gold tank badges? Wonder why they did it like that when everything else was silver.

According to Yamaha, they were all the same badges, 1980-81-82-83.

Similar enough, by the way, to be able to be used on the 550s also.

The only ones I know for sure to have been silver were the 650 Seca.

(I think this is a chacal question.)

Do they have the same curve? I can't find the part number for the Seca badges. Thought about maybe either just painting over them...or just not being so picky? :)

I was thinking about redoing mine with chrome. I would prefer gold, but I cant seem to find gold chrome trim tape anywhere

I'm thinkin I may strip off the gold color, or at least sand it some, and redo as well. Can't see every other emblem being silver, but the gas tank being gold.

Are you sure yours aren't originally gold but with the outer layer worn off? The 650 Seca is chrome silver all the way around, I would have thought the Max would be consistently gold as well.

Any two-sided adhesive that you can recommend? I've had my side panels repainted and would like to put the emblems back on...

3M Automotive Trim tape; from an Auto Parts Supplier. It's the stuff that's used to reattach automotive emblems by body shops and repair places. http://www.superiorcarcare.net/3m-doubl ... -tape.html (This was just a convenient listing with a picture, not a recommended source. I buy mine at the auto parts.)

I'm sure it's available in some form in your end of the world too.
