    What Maxim?

I had cracked rings on my 650 engine. I just swapped it for a 750 engine and gave the 650 away.

GZ go to your account and edit your signature so we know what bike you have.

I would do a leak down test to see if its the valves or the bottom end.

Change the plugs and run it. It might just need fresh plugs. Its not normal to have a oil fouled plug, just keep tabs on the oil level and ride it.

I replaced the plugs and changed the oil. It seems to run better but if i go over 6k rpms it spits oil out everywhere. Its coming out of the bottom of air box. Iv been riding it because its my daily gas saver. Im going to pull the plugs tonight to see if its still having prob with the number 4 cyl. Ill update my sig tonight too. It is a 83 maxim 650. Iv bobbed it out and like most projects its never really done. Thanks for the help and for the web sight. Iv gotten help and ideas. Hope to ride with some around NC soon

Are you sure that A: it's not overfilled, or B: you don't have a float problem and the crankcase is being "overfilled' with gasoline?

How many miles on the motor?

When were the valves last adjusted?

    Stock airbox or ???

it still has a stock air box. i dont know when the valves were adjusted last. the oil isnt over filled. there can be a float problem ill check on it. the motor has 13k. i have to remove the rear tire and i cant seem to find any intsructions on how to remove it. i think i can figure it out.

if it's building up that much pressure in the crankcase, it could be that the rings are shot. but i'd check the float idea first.

I had the same problem with my 82' xj750. open both side oil plugs and the main under the filter and start fresh. clean the carbs and jets and all should be well. Take the air filtwr out when you start it, if the problem is still there, you will see oil and gas mix instantly.
