For all of you who helped out. Right, after rebuilding carbs I filled the float bowls with auxilliary tank and carbs on bench. No problems at all. [I THEN DRAINED THEM] and went through the fun and games of refitting them (into the inlet rubbers) and to my utter despair, the same thing happened - i.e. fuel absolutely pouring through the system and onto (waiting) pile of rags. This time though I gave each bowl a tap with a soft mallet, with a club hammer in reserve, and distinctly heard one of the floats pop up, stopping the flow of fuel, and not a leak anywhere. Now - WHY does this happen? Why is the float sticking? Is it the sudden influx of fuel? Ive never seen it before. Is it a common problem with Yams? Thanks for all your sugestions.

It's because in the course of all the yanking and honking required to get the rack back on the bike, one gets hung up because they're bouncing all over in there, dry.

Yes, that was my own conclusion too. It takes a fair old bit of shoving to get them in, especially with new inlet rubbers. Seems to be sorted now though. Cheers mate.

    Phil:

Will you please complete the Signature Section and include the Thumbs of your BIKE.

    Year - Model - Miles - Stock/ Mods.

It helps us determine if your bike has Hitachi or Mikuni

    As the Bikes age, ...
The Petcock and Floats become susceptible to leaking.
CHEAP Insurance is a MANUAL Shut-Off Valve.

    Briggs & Stratton: $11.00

Thanks Rick, the manual petcock is definitely going on, although over here (U.K.) it will cost a lot more than that no doubt. I am even more stupid with computers than I am with bikes......so how do I complete the signature/thumbs etc process?
