    I think they are all the same thru the XJ series.
    (but I could be wrong)

    They're not. USA part number: 42X-25190-00-00, still avail from Yamaha for $81 here.

    They're common with a lot of the Maxim X's, 750 and 1100 Viragos (Viragoes?) however.

    Not 100% sure if your bike would be the same unless it's an American export. Might check with chacal.

    What is compatible with the XJ 900 (1983) ??

    I have a "Turbo" '82 , and a 650 Maxim'82 as spares.
