Some four years ago I sold my 1982 Seca 750 and bought a Honda Shadow. Didn't think I would ever get a XJ again, but after I sold my Honda, I saw a little beaut for just a few hundred bucks. I brought home a 1983 Maxim 650, might be a midnight addition even. The thing hasn't run in years, and its sat outside for a time. I have torn apart the carbs already and I would say this thing has never had the respect of anyone. I really believe that nobody has ever cleaned them before, pretty bad. After some fresh fluids and a clean set of carbs, this thing will hopefully fire up. On my old Seca, I pretty much rebuilt everything I could, I sold her as a quasi show bike.

Welcome back! I'm just down the road 2 1/2 hours east. I have gotten together with some other XJ riders from Edmonton in the past. Perhaps we can get together for a ride in 2011.

Its funny really. When I sold the Seca, I sold it all. I got rid of all the extra parts I had and the tools. I don't have the shim tool anymore, and I think I will need to buy it again. I used to have about 2 extra parts bikes in bags and boxes. LOL.. I guess I kind of missed the uniqueness of the old girl and the looks from others when your bike looks awesome for its age.

Here is a pic of the old bike I had. Hopefully I can get the new Maxim 750 looking as good! :D
