I got the headers on pretty good. Figured that would be the hardest part of the new exhaust installation. But for some reason I am having trouble with the muffler. It came with two wierd brackets... one a straight eye to eye type about 3 inches long. I thought it would just go from the bracket mount on the muffler to the old mount on the passenger footpeg bracket. It doesn't fit anywhere. I also have a long... maybe 4 or 5 inch bracket with one hole on the long end but no other holes. On the other end it is a 90 degree and extends another inch give or take. No hole for bolts though. I was wondering if it is some kind of retention bracket because the muffler's best fit and position is right snug under the rear passenger bracket (which I like) but also right against the bolt for the bottom eye of my rear shock. I can already hear the obnoxious rattling, buzzing, air hammer sound that is going to make unless I retain it away from there some how.
Anyway... any tips anyone? And pics would be wonderful.

the brackets it came with are so you can fabricate an appropriate mount, as their muffler is a "universal" part.

I believe they intend for you to drill your own holes where necessary.

The 90* bit might be intended for the other side, to replace the centerstand "upstop" (if the centerstand still fits.)

It was for the other side centerstand stop. And as far as the other bracket went... it fit perfectly on my rear passenger peg. I did a little modifying and was able to pull it away from the shock mount. I ended up just loosening the headers again and slipping everything into place loosely. Then actually called Mac Performance and asked one of their guys if it was really supposed to mount to the foot peg. He said yes and also walked me through the process of installing it. Everything worked out flawlessly. I am very happy with the installation and the look. I appreciate it a lot Fitz. You're always helping people out of jams.

I want to get a bit more done before I post those pics. Well... Maybe I will. I am going to the garage tonight to finish installing the new turn signals. i will flash a couple shots and put them on my project thread. Click on the thread for pics...

Thanks... I was wondering these things myself. It would have been nice to have some instructions in the box. Still, sounds like a dream, especially compared to what I had before. Collector box was rusted out so maybe 80% of the exhaust never made it out the muffler.
