Bike had 53K when the chain tensioner fell apart and kept locking the shifter in 1st/2nd. I figured I wasn't going to bother splitting the case- without rebuilding everything.. and it was cheaper/easier to get another motor.
I ended up buying a parts bike and swapping everything over.

    Selling everything but the frame...
Motor ran just fine... have already sold the carbs. Ready to start listing stuff on eBay.. unless needs/wants here come first.

Ign switch + keys (2) also have security chain
    Ignitor/Rectifier/Relay
    Rotors- Dual front, Calipers
    Rear end
    Wheels (tires toast)
    Electronics
    Master Cylinder
    Parts Motor
    Fenders
    Seat-(torn)
    Gas Tank- sold
    Side Covers- sold
    Forks

    Etc...

I would be interested in the cdi box and the starter relay... maybe even the voltage regulator at the right price

I'd like a security chain. Mine was not included with my purchase. I'm guessing it would fit in the pocket of an 82.

If its a package deal give me an idea of price.

I posted to the "wanted" section- so you have seen these right?

It sorta has to be a package.. The ign switch and chain match (keys). I just had a 2nd key made ($15.00). I'll throw in the helmet/seat lock too...

    $40 + shp= for all

Seat pan is fine (no cracks/breaks).. as is the foam. My wife recovered it several years ago but it is badly faded (I should have used black vinyl). There is heavy plastic sheet under the vinyl to keep the foam dry. It may last a couple years if dyed.. but I'd buy a new cover if I needed to. My bike's been outside 24/7 since 1987. Still riding it almost daily. Near 70K now. $30 + ship

If you still have this I'm still "thinking" about it. Can you take a pic of the security chain? I've never actually seen one for an XJ but I was hoping for a complete bike even if it's unnecessary.

FYI: I'm sorry you got ripped off (at a dealer) for those keys... I paid $3 at a local REAL locksmith (no black plastic on key) for my bikes ignition & gas cap keys.

The key I bought was $5.99, $6 to cut by code, and $3.00 shipping. The "local" dealer wanted $30..LOL! It has the black plastic and says "Yamaha". It is not exactly like the original key- but a close-enough match.
I'll ship the ignition switch, chain and helmet lock, for $40 free ship,
unless you can find someone who needs an ignition switch...
Shown below is the chain with the original key..

    Nope...
I'll have a good look... (step-step-jog-jog-slide garage door open...)
The cable appears fine.. It was perfectly operating when the bike was parked- but that was a few years ago. I "cant" operate it now.. as the carb brackets are gone.. and it's just hanging there... but the bike has been stored inside since the trans started giving me trouble..
The sheath looks new (can still see the white letters).. and I can't recall if I replaced it at sometime or not.. (had the bike 23 years)..

$10 to your door if you don't live in BFE... :)
