I just bought a 1980 XJ650 Maxim, as my first bike. Everything works great, except the Left signal. The Right signal even works, and clicks. Left one just stays on solid. Can anyone suggest a replacement relay, that will plug straight into the 3pin connector? I can't find any OEM FU257CD's for sale, except for one on eBay for $150.

    Thanks!

The fact that one blinker is working is evidence that the relay is fine. Check that the bulbs are fully plugged in and working and check the wiring behind the headlight and near the rear blinker. This is more than likely a short or improperly installed or malfunctioning light. Your relay is fine.

My bike just had the same problem. It was just a loose wire to the signal back near the tail light.

    +1 on Dirtymaxims comment.

I dropped my bike this summer and the same thing happened. I took the cover off and jiggled it around and it worked.

I've had turn signals that LOOKED fine on the ouside actually be a wet gooey corroded rusty mess inside.

Pull both lenses off the blinkers on the left and check the sockets and bulbs for starters. Then check the wiring connections, and the turn signal harness connectors inside the headlight shell.

If you swap out the relay with a "generic" one, you'll lose the self canceling feature.
