    Well i went to look at the bike today, The add said 82 Maxim thats all, i went over was all happy , i go in and its a 400, i was sad. I might buy it for my girl though, i like the color and it looks to be in decent shape , needs some odds and ends.

    Dude if you have the space, snap it up. Those "XS" 400 twins (JUST the Maxim and Seca, not the "Special") had "half an XJ motors" with the 10K redline and DOHC with shimmed valves (yes and CV carbs sorry) plus a cool monoshock rear suspension that was way ahead of it's time.

    NEAT bikes; hard to find a really nice example. As "starter" bikes they're often trashed from complete lack of any maintenence. I've looked at a couple that had been completely ridden into the ground.
