I'm working on my business plan for next year and am trying to decide where to set my labor rate.

If you know what shops in your area charge per hour I'd appreciate knowing:

    Dealer/Independent
    General geographic area
    Rate

    Thanks for replies!

I have my own little indy shop based out of my "pole barn". I do most major services (prefer american v-twin but won't turn down work!) and lots of fabrication and customization to include paint.

    Dayton, Ohio area

I charge a labor rate of $50 per hour and fabrication rate of $75 per hour on full custom fab work.

Local guy in Pine Grove, PA charges $35/hr. He's trying to get his busness up and running and economy is not the best. Local dealer charges $70/hr.
    Good luck.

Based on the "going" rates here in the Motown area, $60/hr for a talented independent such as yourself would certainly be competitive.

Dealers generally get $70- $80, at least Yammie shops around here.

Last time I checked, in Toronto, the good local shops charge $85.00 per hour. I was quoted $350.00 to clean all 4 of my carbs...and that was if they did not need any major parts, and I did the re & re. ( I did them my self)
