    Hello,
I am rather new here and look forward to learning and watching other projects as they develop. I have loved seeing the bikes with a wide fat tire in the back. Does anyone know of a kit or method that will allow be to run a wider tire? I have a 1982 XJ 650 Maxim.

you gotta make sure it'll fit in your swing arm/frame..or build a tail that will support it... i haven't seen many builds on here that put on a wider rim with a wider tire...

with a little creativity I was able to put a wider tire (130/90-16) on my 82 XJ650 Maxim. Which now sports a XJ 900 Seca motor.

Welcome to the site Kwiski !! (and Steven1980)
I'd like to see a few pics of that !!

There's no easy way to go beyond a 130 on an XJ.

IMHO, It is what it is man, the shafty was'nt designed for a fatter tire, you'll just have to build around the skinny tire. Personally i like the skinny tire look myself, plus i like the tear drop tank to, just did'nt like the very large ugly ol double bucket bannana seat, so i cut mine down to make a solo seat out of it. So i guess if a wider tire is my thing, im probly gonna have to get a different bike.

A 150 Avon Azaro Radial fits an XJ1100 with a little beating in the swing arm. ( actually better than stock by about 5mm.)
