Thought mine was normal due to shaft resistance but after working on my buddies 650 nighthawk (also a shaftie) his spins without hardly any resistance. No grinding or binding points just takes some effort to spin it. What is normal on these bikes. (85 700x). Also It is out in the cold garage and I know this makes it a bit stiffer as well..

Are you talking about in neutral? My 650 turbo is the first shaftie I've owned so I don't have any real track record with them but I can tell you that I recently had the rear wheel off and drained and refilled the rear but it spun with NO binding or other odd noises at all before and after service. Back in the day I used t repair my friends R90s and his wheel spun with no resistence or odd noises too.
    hope it helps you

opther then your normal points of contact. there shouldn't be much resistance at all.

roll the bike on the ground and see how hard you have to push it. it should roll fairly easy. as long as the tires are pumped up.

Im going to pull her apart and have a look, it is stiffer than I think it shld be. It is not hard to push around, but spinning the wheel on center stand in neutral takes more effort than it should and the tire doesnt spin round and round very far without stopping. Brakes are a non issue, and no noises. Anyhow thanks for the responses. Brett
