I my dad has offered me his old Yamaha 175 enduro.
If I remember right, it was bought in 1976.
    It's blue, white and black.
Any idea what this bike is.
It has always been in the garage and in OK shape.
    Maybe another winter money pit.

I had a DT100, 72 or 73 I think. That 2 stroke torque is a real kick in the pants.

One thing I had to watch for was the oil injector. Somewhere (I think near the block) in the system there was a check valve consisting of a ball and spring. Sludge would build up on the ball and the bike would under lubricate (noticible because the oil consumption would go way down). Thing had gawd awful piston slap when I sold it.

I bet your dads has a similar system. Might want to make sure it is up to snuff.

Does anyone know of any web sites on bikes like this?
This site is better than any manual on XJ's.
To bad there's not a dt bikes .com.
Well actually there is but it's not what I'm looking for. :?

the 75 and 76 DT175's was same bike, around 13-14 hp if I remember right and had lots of torque for a 2 stroke, they was a street leagel trail bike, what are called Dual Sports nowadays.
My first bike was a 76 DT175 bought new off the dealer floor in early 77.
got round 70 mpg, would cruse 55-60,I dont remember top speed but think it would hit 70 fairly well but not much more, for some reason I think I got around 78 mph out of the old girl a couple times on a long downhill with a tailwind and the tach was way in the red LOL!!!!!!
They was a realy fun bike and would give a lot of bigger bikes a good whipping in a short dragrace, would give a 250 a run for its money in the dirt, mostly due to being light around 210 lbs if my memory isnt totally failing me, they also had decent suspension for the day.
