Bike fell over, over-filled crank case, valve guides shot.

If it's the inlet valves, it can force an oil/fuel mix back through the carbs into the air box, if it's the exhaust valves it will blow smoke.

I have no smoke , but I beliebe that the oil it´s coming from the hose that goes from the engine to the filter box.

that's called engine blowby due to worn piston rings. OR your crankcase is way over filled.

take the hose off the airbox and you'll probably see lots of smoke coming from that hose when the engine is running. if you see oil sputtering out then the engine is overfilled. if that's the case then you might want to smell the oil to make sure it's not gas filling up the crankcase. or there's just too much oil.

It must be the last option, for I have new piston ring and cylinders

Does it have an upper system vent . I am not sure but if it does see if its clogged most bikes out there have a vent some where in the valve cover. Old kzs had butterflies when they got plugged up it would do the same thing

Igor, smell your oil. Open the filler and poke your nose in.

If it smells like gasoline, you have a carburetor problem and possibly a petcock problem too.

A stuck float can cause the engine to get filled with gasoline which will cause oil to come out the breather. If this happened suddenly and there is a lot of oil, that is what happened unless you overfilled it.

Hello my friend, hope you are doing well, I got the oil plug out and there is no gas smell at all in the crank case, so it must be the over filled problem.

hopefully it was just overfilled. Refill to the proper level pull the air filter out start it up see if your getting steam or smoke where the breather connects to the airbox and let us know

did you ever pull the crank case breather hose off to see if smoke came pouring out while the bike was running?

Don't disconnect the hose or worry about that until you make sure you have the right oil level, and run the bike for a while.

you get smoke coming out of the hose. or you don't.

you said you got new rings and jugs. you should have very minimal amount of smoke. and good compression. rings not sealing properly means the piston compression escapes past the rings. causing engine blowby. and smoke out the tube. it will also cause low compression readings.

you do want to make sure your oil level is where it should be though. and not higher.

a warmer engine expands and has better piston ring sealing against the jugs over a cold engine.

When you discover Oil in the Airbox there are a few reasons why your Crankcase if spewing an excessive amount of Oil up to the Box.

    Do a Compression Check.
A Compression Check is going to help resolve the mystery.

    Take Preventative action.
Place an inexpensive Fuel Shut-Off Valve after the Petcock.
Being able to completely shut off the Fuel will prevent Fuel from flooding into the Crankcase due to a Petcock and Aging Float Valves problem.

Weather permitting, ride with someone closely following you to observe the Exhaust as you ride and see if the Bike's smoking steadily, puffing as you shift or showing other signs that Oil is getting into the Combustion Chamber.

Make sure you are using the right Oil for the Bike and Seasonal recommendations.

This is gotting better, Whit the proper amount of oil I took off the breathe hose and as no smoke or oil coming out of it, I run it up to 7000 rpm and nothing, also there is no smoke coming out of the exaust pipes when the bike is runnig and the job was done by an exelent bike mecanic, so it is the peacock as you say or it was over filled. Wait for your answer to my dilemma.

Igor; You said your oil did not smell like gasoline; so you do not need to worry about the petcock (fuel valve) being the cause.

Since you have no more excess oil, no excessive smoke and everything seems fine now, I think it was simply overfilled.

Some things to remember checking oil level:

Bike needs to be on CENTERstand or held vertical when checking.

Bike needs to have been OFF for at least ten minutes before checking.

Your 400 oil level window is like my 550s, I like to fill it so that there is just a small bubble showing at the top. Check before every ride, and add a little when it gets down toward halfway.

Just keep an eye on everything and let us know if anything like that happens again.

    I think you're fine.

I was thinking about this more. If he has a new top end on it your going to have a bit more blow by till the rings get fully seated which would compound the oil problem

Just out of curiosity, what height above sea level will you get to going over the Andes. Reason for asking is at higher altitudes you may find that the bike will run differently due to altitude and thinness of the air. Saw something like this on "Top Gear", a British car show, where the vehicle they were driving did not run right at higher altitudes. Anyone here know what I'm talking about and has more info feel free to chime in. Such as air/fuel mixture adjustments etc.

I have had my bike over the rockies a few times. I think 8,400 feet was the highest on the bike. There are a lot of turbo charged cars there. Bike ran poorly, 4th gear wide open was all it could do at highway speed.

looks like is highest peak is 15000 feet. average is around 11000 feet though. only found one road real noticeable that goes through them mountains and it's highest point was 8000 feet. i did't look real hard for other roads though.

my 650 did alright at 8000 feet. upwards of 10,000+ was somewhat of a challenege for power though.

we have some roads around here that hit almost 12000 feet. and i can't beleive how cold it is up there when the temps are 100 down below.

wow i never followed The non us models. I actually thought it was a twin. Now that's a bike i would like to get my hands on. Very cool Igor.

Fits your bringing back memories with your signature. In 68 started with yellow and white Honda mini trail. I got so jealous when the neighbor got first year trail 70 with 4speed and clutch. After i wore out the Honda Got the chance to get a Suzuki AS50 none of the Hondas could keep up. Then we all got on to bigger and better bikes. The old neighbor still has the Honda stored. I haven't talked to him in a while i am going to try to get my hands on it if possible. He is well off and will probably give it to me

The XJ series started life a Japanese home-market 400-4, which looked identical to the non-fairinged 550 Seca.

The chain-driven 400 became a 500 then a 550 before being brought to the states as the Seca; meanwhile the shaft-driven 2nd generation XJs had sprouted with the XJ650 which we first saw as the 1980 Maxim 650.

Meanwhile, the 400-4 was sold in various other parts of the world, styled both like the "Seca" (its original form) and as a "Special" with Maxim-esque styling. That's what Igor has.

That's also why they didn't call the DOHC twins "XJs" (even though of the same motor family) because the XJ400 is and was a 4-cylinder, everywhere but North America.
