I agree, It was nice yesterday afternoon 50 deg. But it was 35 and raining in the morning, dang could not ride to work. I've gotten a few weekend afternoon rides this winter but not many. Too darn cold for my old bones.

I'm good with a little more winter. (I still need to get my painting done and everything reassembled.)

I don't mind working in the garage when its cold turn on the heat and crank up the music . But my garage is full of plants right now if i want to work on any of the 3 i have to push 1 out and drag another over. Forget the bike on the lift its a few inches from the car. Cant wait for my new garage. Soon as it warms up enough to put the plants out i will be happy. Thought about spiking them with antifreeze but that will just cost money to replace in the spring.

I dunno, it's been rather entertaining of late. Went up to something like 46*F on New Years, and rained; then the bottom fell out. Then it was 38*F on Tuesday, but yesterday morning it was raining yet only 22 out. Single digits last night.

I still can't figure out how it was raining and only 22* F.

SecaRob.. i agree, especially with the frigid temps we have right now in Dayton. it sucks walking to class when the wind chill is at or near 0 degrees F and snow is 4~5"

however, I was on a lockup duty shift last night around campus and seen a motorcyclist riding his bike?! they had to have studded tires or something cause we just got hit with a big snowstorm yesterday afternoon. something i would have only expected to see in Alaska...

Has anyone really noticed how much worse the winters are getting. We used to be lucky if we got a dusting of snow every year. We had 2 inches Christmas day 8+ inches last week and more coming on Monday and Tuesday. I have family near Daytona them as well as all their neighbors are complaining that their heaters cant keep up its so cold for them

It's 5°F here as our high temp (-15°C for those of us on the sensible scale) -- a bit chilly even for us.

My family is up in Thunder Bay Ontario where I grew up - and it's currently -34°C there, with a high of -22°C today (that's -31°F/-8°F)

Still going to be a bit of a wait for riding season methinks....

It's global shifting that's for sure. We don't get NEAR the snowfall here in my corner of Michigan that we used to when I was a kid; I still haven't had to pay to have my driveway plowed this year.

Whereas, you poor SOBs south of the Mason-Dixon line have been getting hammered with some very uncharacteristic winters of late.

Fitz, now come on if memory serves me correctly you still have kids somewhat under the roof? My 2 boys will work for food when they have to.

moellear, you are right about these frigid temps. We have not had alot of snow but what has fallen just hangs around for days/weeks :(

On the bright side, my 8th grade CYO basketball team is undefeated with only 4 games to go so I do have THAT to keep me excited.

    WE NEED SPRING

Really?!?!? 8O A bunch of old men sitting around talking about the weather?
    J/k

It cant make up its mind around here. one day the garage door is open and the kids are outside playing. The next the kerosene heater is blasting away and the kids are on the Wii.

No, no, no, didnt you get the memo? Al Gore and the rest of the Libs are calling it "Climate Change" now.

I guess they felt like idiots talking about global warming when Washington was snowed in under 2 feet of snow for 2 weeks last year! :p

    I know I shouldn't.... But...

It's the middle of summer here and today is a stunning hot, sunny day without too much humidity and not a breath of wind in the air.... I hate sitting in an office on a day like this... Really looking forward to the ride home in a couple of hours :)

And I've said this before, in a similar situation:

    EAT A BUG FOR ME!

Kiwi Rat B8&^%$#@! anyway. BTW, Thanks for the compliment on the black bike. You wouldn't believe how SUHWEET it is to ride, for hours on end. I had one day last summer, when it had just got done raining so the roads were wet but the sun was out. The "Willing Accomplice" (alternate name for it) and I were having a grand old time splashing puddles on twisty wet backroads. Love my Avons!

Just went back to the previous page and saw your pic.

Looks like my driveway, mine has slightly less snow, but piled similarly.

I'd go crazy without winter and lots of snow........need it for the snowmobiles. Yup, motorcycles all summer and snowtorcycles all winter. :) Plus we can be a "little" more reckless with them :)

. I'm gonna have to agree. Here in the "arm pit" of new york there's not much to do during the winter except ride sleds and work on your projects. To bad I sold my sled last year. Wish I still had it.

It truly sucks, went to start Frankenbiker the other day and all he did was moan and groan. He doesn't like to turn in the extreme cold 10 deg. here the day I tried, but he cranked just fine. Once it warms above 25 he'll turn. I rode it until Thanksgiving day this year, it was around 20 out and he started right up and ran with no complaints.
Yes I know I'm crazy for refering to my bike as a live entitiy. But if you knew "Franky" you would too.

I've been watching the x games and I would really like to try snowmobiles. My wife lived in Montana for a while and she said they are a blast. But......it was 69 here yesterday! I rode about 4 hours. Of course today we are back in the 40s with drizzle. It was great while it lasted.

Got 3" today, looking at another 3 tomorrow, followed by 30+ mph winds. Ahh Minnesota. At least it was 15 degrees today, not too shabby to rap up Jan. LOL

Sorry to make you guys jealous but this winter in Fort Lauderdale has been perfect. I don't remember how to drive my truck it's been about 3 weeks. I'll take this over the brutal July/August heat that makes your helmet stick to your head.

There ya go. I have the "Big Buddy," the same heater with two grids. I run it off a 30lb propane bottle outside the side door of the garage.

This morning's festivities: (The same storm Max-X is enjoying right now) view out my back door...

Well, things are getting worse all the time.
Take last night for instance, stayed up late watching Dirty Harry till about 2 AM. Figures it was time for bed, go upstairs and DRIP!
Look at the carpet in the hallway and it's wet, look at the ceiling and there is water dripping from the smoke alarm!
Get all panicky, go out to the garage and bring in the step ladder to take a look in the attic and here is what I found:
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
Here's a couple shots of how much snow we've had lately, guess enough had accumulated on the roof that the wind had blown it in.

It's -7 right now with a brisk wind which really cuts to the bone in short order. Didn't really feel much like staying outside for very long this morning with dangerous windchill happening. Looks like it'll be awhiile before I feel like riding any distance, but never pass up the chance to go spin some sh!tties in the drivway with the bobber!!
Yes, it's winter so get over it. Cowboy up!

All the snow in the pictures was in the attic, though when I went out the garage door today I noticed water running down behind the siding and dripping on the garage door. There is so much ice in the gutters it's damming up and creeping back under the shingles.
    Yeh, WINTER SUCKS!!!!!!!

this is another reason i hate winter. I HATE THE STUPID PLANTS THAT HAVE TO COME INSIDE About a month or so and they can go back outside. As you can tell no work bench or place to work without major re arranging. I was not able to get the new garage yet financial reasons bought the 750 and my puppy needs 1100 dollar surgery in a week. Plus all the snow i have yo cut 3 trees.

Can't complain about this winter. Plenty of snow in the mountains not very much in the valley. Been able to ride to work all winter so far except for a total of two weeks.
