Noise isn't necessarily an indicator of pad wear. You may only have glazed pads.

There is a small cover on the back of each of your calipers to peek through and aee how much pad material is actually left.

If you do need pads, EBC is a good choice.

The closest Yamaha dealership is about 20 miles, and they don't stock brake parts for older bikes.

The Big Brown Truck brings them to my door.

You need to find out whether or not you need to replace your brake pads first.

    Go look.

No worries. Even though it's warmed up compared to the last two weeks, it's still kinda brisk for riding.

There should be a narrow vertical slot in the friction material of your brake pads; it's a wear indicator, sort of like the ones on your tires. If the slots are gone, your pads are due for replacement.

If you do indeed have enough pad material remaining, google will give you a lot of info on the causes and cure for glazed pads.

Which end of the braking system do you use more, the front or the rear?.

Its cold but not cold enough, I still ride to and from work everyday just for the love.
I use the front more because my back one kind of sticks for some reason.
