how can i adjust the shocks on the RK without grabbing them with a set of channel-locks?

the ride is pretty supple as they are right now but when i get on it, the bike squats right down and i have a hard time keeping from sliding off the back end...

I have the same "issue".. There must be a special "tool" for engaging the shocks? Someone have a picture? I have the original tool pack with my bike but nothing in the bag for this purpose.

When carrying a pillion and gear mine used to bottom out (even at max adjustment) I found a shocky workshop that makes springs and he made some thicker springs. Works beatifully! I also have a vague recollection of seeing some air shocks on EBAY for the XJ 900
