Igor; This pic is actually of the mirror, but you can see the dimmer switch clearly in the pic as well, over to the right.

Is that what yours looked like? Triangular, with a phillips screw holding it on?

In order to get a Feature Item that is a Sub-assembly of a complete Part you'll likely have to acquire the PART and remove the Knob.

You can get lucky, ... sometimes, ... if you GO VISIT a Motorcycle Junk Yard.
You might have to go "Look" for it among the "Outside Inventory".

Giving a Salvage Company a call is worth dropping a dime on them.

Arm yourself with the Part Number for the Controller.
    >>4H7-83973-00-00
    >>SWITCH, HANDLE 3
Be able to explain what you want in Junk-Yard-Speak.

    "What are you looking for?"

"I need a 82, Yamaha, XJ550, Left, Handlebar Control, P-N 4H7-83973-00-00, SWITCH, HANDLE 3, the High~Low Beam Switch, the KNOB for that Switch."

    Rick, he's in Chile.

Igor, put a post in "Sell, Trade, Swap" Wanted: High-beam switch lever and see if somebody has one.

Meanwhile I'll dig around and see what I can find.

If someone took it they likely didn't unscrew it. More likely they just broke off the lever it's attached to.

Unless you have a plastic post with a hole through it sticking up there you need more than just the triangular "knob".

Carl is right, Igor-- do you still have a clear plastic post sticking up with a threaded hole in it?

You are right, I have a lilttle piece of plastic coming out of the control, I
think that is enough to fix it and make it longer to atach the one that it is
    missing.
