Turn signal remodel.

Does anyone know where to plug this in?
Im thinking about converting to LEDs and compiling the info.

I don't know "where" the signal relays are (yet), but you are replacing the original with that type.

I need to do the same thing soon. But it's to cold to go looking for it.

 

Relay locations vary from bike to bike.

 

If you are replacing a Yamaha 3 prong flasher with the one in the EBAY link it will not work. The prong functions and locations are different between them. The third prong on a automitive flasher is for the signal light on the dash, the third prong on the Yamaha flasher is for the auto cancel function. A two prong flasher works most of the time without any modifications but you will not have auto canceling turn signals anymore.

 

My auto cancel sucks anyways. I suppose I can break out my factory manual and read up and figure it out myself.

 

I still have yet to see an LED turn signal that is as bright and effective, in broad daylight, as a good old 1156 in a proper amber lens.

I guess it comes down to why you have turn signals-- because the law requires it, or because you really want to be safer in traffic. LEDs may "qualify" but I still haven't seen any that REALLY WORK.

You've seen my black 550 by now. I used modern "Yamaha pattern" signals like the ones that come on some of the current FJ/FZ series and the Seca II; that way they have the Yamaha look without the "clunkiness" of the original signals.

But there are LOTS of bulb-lit signals out there.

 

XJ4EVER offers an electronic flasher unit and a necessary adapter to replace the Yamaha self-cancelling module. My kit is on the way and I will report here on its installation and performance.
