Can I run two of these headlights or will it be too much strain on electrical system? Each light has two H3 Halogen bulbs 55w each. I'm not 100% sold on installing two headlights. If I do, I'll stagger them like in the pic. Now, in your opinions, do I go with two black ones or two chrome ones? (OR) One headlight; black or chrome. I can't decide. Look at the pic of my bike and headlights and give an opinion. All are welcome.

I like those. I was considering swapping my headlight for a black one.

Really nice bike buy the way ;-)

To be honest, I like the headlight you already have... if you could fit an even larger satin silver single lamp it would suit the lines of the bike... I think twinning the twin lights is too modern for the style you've chosen... but that's just my opinion!

I ride with a friend of mine who has one of those on his bike and it's plenty bright. I suppose it would look better with two of them to fill up the space left by the stock headlight, but at 55 watts each, you would be working the charging a bit. I would atleast wire one to the low beam and one to the high beam so they wouldn't be on at the same time.

Sam_G- Now that you bring it up. I think you're right about filling the space and how those 'E.T.' lights would make it look a little too futuristic. I found this pic of a different XJ with a small bullet headlight and even that doesn't fill in the space. I would like to thank you for bringing me to my senses. I'm going to still replace the headlight I have because the bezel is severely dented and rusty. The gauges are going too. (I don't care for the 'Top Heavy' look. I'll find something almost as big, but the lens will be flat.

I've just changed the tank on my xj700 based trike to one from an ZVS650... this has the speedo on the tank, so I lost all the normal instruments which gives a cleaner look. Looking at the lines of your bike, something similar would lead the eye to the top of the headlight without the bulk of the instruments that are on ther now.

I'm not the biggest fan of the top heavy look either..

BUT...For this particular xj style, I think it (meaning light too) flows perfectly with that style tank. (thats if you keep original tank)

It gives it that nice "pit bull" stance.
Thats also with tight angled clubmans.

If you go for an old school chopper or sporty tank...minimize for sure!

I kept the original tank along with the round headlight (and i wouldnt change the light for anything).. I think its one of the bikes best traits.

Do anything you want...Theres a shortage of custom bikes with personality these days... MAKE IT YOURS! Make it say YOU. 8)
