I can almost forgive the guy the "original tires" thing; unfortunately it points up one of the rude facts of life: It's still gonna take about $800 to make this bike really rideable just like it would a less shiny one.

Wow! That thing is beautiful. That's the color scheme of my 550. I am going to try to save those photos so I have something to work toward. Fitz, do you know if Len has the decals for these?

some kbb fan is going to come in and say is only worth $1020

Well, to start with I didn't see all the so called beautiful pics you guys talk about with this bike so I don't know just how much it is truly worth. Since purchasing my first Seca a few weeks back I personally feel that the 81'XJ750RSeca is worth much more than what a lot of them sell for. Tearing mine apart I am very impressed with what quality Yamaha built into these machines. I really don't think that #1 very many people originally when they came out actually realized just how well built they were(which maybe caused fewer sales with them?) and #2 that the area's where most were purchased were spotty to say the least. I know that here in Michigan I have seen very few of them but when I search the internet I see that out on the West Coast they seem to be everywhere! I think the price that they pull is very dependant on where they are being sold. I also feel that if a person purchased one of these machines and re-built it properly he could very well get another 30 years of use out of it. Now when you think about it that way how much do you think that is worth? Shame I can't find a car I could say I could even get the first 30 years out of it? :)))))))) grunt007, 81'750 Seca, MI, Spending the money but a Great! value.......

The bike in question was a nearly-mint '82 XJ550RJ Seca. Only 6100 miles on it, "original tires" touted as a selling point. In perfect cosmetic shape, but of course has been sitting A LOT.

It went for $1900. Let's hope the new owner joins up.

mirco, you'd have to ask Len. I know he has access to some graphics packages, not sure about that one. Beware: There is a "replica" graphics package for the '82 550 Seca scheme that shows up on the internet and occasionally thru various other sources, but it is incorrect. Side cover stripes wrong shape, etc.
