i just got some nice led turn signal lights but i got them hooked up, if i just have those hooked up with no front turn signals. both of them will light up when selecting left or right blinker. if i hook up the stock lamps to the front and hit the switch to the left the left will just stay solid but wont flash. will i need to wire in a resistor. what do you guys do to make this work, thanks

Have you tied to disconnect the self cancelling unit? I've read those won't let the led's work correctly.

You need to replace your flasher with a electronic one. The stock Yamaha flasher is a thermal type and requires the current from the old bulbs to work. Search the forums for "electronic flasher" and read some of the articles and comments. If your auto cancel function use to work it won't after a new flasher is installed. They can be modified to work though. Electronic flashers are available at most auto parts stores.
Installing restors will work, but not my favorite way of doing it.

want a cheap way out? i had the same problem with my xj. made come cool skull directionals, but they were led, so the didnt blink. autozone has some resistor blocks that work great. i want to say they were around 10 bucks a piece. you can find them with the light bulbs by what little led bulbs we have. mine were for the front, so i put the junctions behind the reflectors off the frame, but i dont know where to run em for the rear... but they do work!!!!!

If you run LED signal lights on the back of the bike and leave the front signal lights standard filement bulbs, all that is needed is an electronic flasher to make them work. If all signal lights are LED, you will need some kind of load resistor inline to make'm flash properly.

I have both models of the electronis flasher. The three prong model did not work on my 750 Seca, but the two prong one did.
I still have small filement bulbs in the front signal light and LEDs in the back and the filement lights are just enough to make the lights signal at the proper rate.

Try the EF32RL. (google search it?)

I replaced the signal flashers on a CX500 honda with LED ones, the stock thermal relay didn't work with them, they were just solid, so I picked this one up at a local kragen/Oreilley's and it did the job perfectly. Was $8.99 there. Regardless of how many bulbs are plugged into it or how much current it needs, the bulbs always flash at the same intervals.
