The carb holders on my bike looked cracked. Mrs. was good enough to give me a new set for my birthday.

When I got into them I see that the cracking is on the surface only (probably ozone). They are intact inside and as flexible as the new ones.

I went ahead and put the new ones on the bike.

First $40 gets the old ones, shipping included (48 US states). The old gaskets come with, but I'd recommend getting some gasket material and making new ones.

    Ask and ye shall recieve

They don't photograph well. The carbholders are in much better shape than they appear. The gaskets are much worse than they look, almost all the thickness crushed out of them.

This seems to be the worst crack. The shadows from the flash make it look much worse than it is. At most it is 50% through the rubber.

Almost impossible to photo the insides. This photo looks like there is a crack but the flash just doesn't get into the sharp corner.

ChecK? Weren't those pieces of paper people used to pass around in the 20th century?

PayPal man! Instant transactions. You'll need an account for all the things you'll buy for the bike anyhow. I'd prefer to go this route.

However, I do like collecting old relics so I wouldn't mind a check. 'Course it'll have to clear before I ship.

Let me know for sure which way you want to go and I'll PM you with the particulars.

Yeah, they look much worse installed where they're stressed a bit. If I'da realized the condition of these I wouldn't have got new ones yet.

I got a new set for christmas. I knew I needed them, but once I took the old set off, I wonder how it ran at all. At least 2 were leaking significantly, and the other 2 had at least minor leaks. I can't wait to get a good sync/colortune on it and see what an improvement it'll make.

Are these still available? I just got an '82 to restore and it's in pretty bad shape. I'll be pulling the carbs and holders this weekend to see what I've got, but I'm pretty sure the holders are going to fall apart when I remove them. -Chuck

RTV sealent comes in a tube that you can make gaskets out of. You can find it in an automotive store such as advance or pep boys. ther are a few diffrent kinds so take a long look at them. I have applyied this sealent to my boots although the boots looked brand new on the inside. they are thiker than they look. The sealent cost me like three bucks. I still went a head and ordered new boots but if you dont have the cash the sealent works fine.

We use RTV on non-pressurized aircraft to seal antenna's, it is basically a non-corrosive silicon sealant. It doesn't have the sour odor that normal bathtub sealer has.
