Currently away from home but will post up pictures of the parts when I get back later in the week. The bike is my 81 550 maxim. Its a project bike that I was honestly very reluctant to rip apart and modify, however my itch to build a caffe racer won over. Anyway most if not all of the parts are in very good to good shape.

Up for sale is the teardrop style gas tank. The color is dark gray and paint is all original.

the bad: tank will be sold without a petcock and gas cap.

The good: The tank is in very good shape with the original paint, and only very small scratches that get covered by the seat anyway.

Speaking of the seat that is up for sale as well. It is in very good shape with no tears.

The little tool box, that mounts behind the seat is also up for sale.
The stock uncut or modified airbox is also up for sale, with the carb to airbox boots.

Rear fender with brake light, as well as the front and rear turn signals. Original passenger sissy bar, as well as the front mounted crash bar.
The crash bar does have some scratches on one side where the previous owner must have went down.

The rear brake pedal is also up for sale, as well as the passenger pegs with aluminum mounts. Front pegs are also going up for sale.

The front end is still on the bike but will be going up for sale soon. Literally the whole front end from the steering stem down.

I do have a price in mind for the above mentioned parts but will entertain all offers.

I am interested in the mufflers if they are in good shape. Let me know where you are located and the price you are thinking about. I have an original 550 except for the mufflers and would like to have it all original.

I'd like to see pics of the tank and know how much you want for it.

I'm only a couple days new to this motorcycle/xj ownership so please forgive me if this is a dumb question. I am in need of a right side cover and possibly a gas tank. Do these parts from a 81 xj550 fit my 81 xj650?

The 550 and 650 are different. The parts won't fit.

Really should have started a new thread rather than hijack this one. I think 81 to 83 are interchangeable. Colours will be different but physically the same. Check Chacal at XJ forever, the sponsering parts specialist, for confirmation.

If the parts are the same (I have an '82 XJ 550 Maxim) I need a trunk, wiring harness, airbox cover and tool tray lid. I only need the fusebox section of the harness if you'll part with it. Shipped to 40047. Thanks

Scratch the wiring harness and fuse box in my above post and add a turn signal (front) and 3 rubber stems. Thanks!
