....but I'm back here to check in on you all. I've had my head wrapped around the Ironhead since I bought it back in September and now that project is going the direction I want. Going to take on teaching my new wife to ride her 'new' '82 Maxim 650 just given to her by her step-dad. It has sat for 7 or 8 years but is in unmolested factory condition. First one I've ever seen that hasn't been totally worked over by a hapless PO. Will have some photos of it soon.

    Hi Ken,

It's always a good feeling once a project is moving....just curious, what year IH, the '74?

Good luck teaching the better half...be patient and keep her safe. This generally isn't the type of thing where you "toss them into the pool to force them to swim"...LOL I do not envy you though.

Yeah the IH is a '74.

"toss them into the pool to force them to swim" LOL, that's how I learned. My first bike was an '81 CB900 Custom, learned to ride it on the 50 mile highway and city street trip back to my house, definitely a crash course(pun intended). I'd never do that to her though. Here's the pics of her 'new' ride:

That's right off the trailer, haven't started cleaning it up yet.
