Wow - that is pretty extreme. I like the final result... not how I would have went personally but you've executed it well. I bet you get alot of confused people asking what is it?

I love it man! Looks great! Definetly something out of the ordinary, and good job on the forward controls and such.

I LOVE your bike Jane! I have always had visions of this type of mod, but never could bring myself to hack up my beautiful bike to do it. I love it as it is and yet... Guess I ought to pick up another basket case and whittle one out. I've got to print this one out to show my brother, he'd love it. Thanks for the inspiration. Take good care of the ride and my buddy just said to try a chrome front fender like the black one you have. He said something about balance. Do you have any pics of just the control extensions? I can see them but would like more details as to where they mount and so on. Thanks.

    PlainJane, that thing looks great!
Try finding a V-Max rear fender. Looks like it would set the whole thing off nicely. Definitely mean looking right now. Good job!

How does it ride with the rigid rear suspension though? I'd love to do one like it, but I've always wondered about the ride quality, especially on long rides...

Also, on the chrome turnouts, did you find a pipe extension to just slip on to the stock pipes, or did you custom build it and then have it chromed?

The turn-outs are simply banged on there with a mallet...very crudely I might add....but they are tight...

I use the rigid bike to go about 5 miles to the bars in Little 5 Points in Atlanta...the rigid is fine at highway speeds as long as you dont hit any holes or bumps at really high speeds...but other than that, I really like the rigid...it sits low and rides and tracks fine for me...

Where are you getting the tank or are you building one? Can't wait to see the finished mods.

The tank might be made from the factory one...cut a section out of the middle to narrow it and then add metal to strech it out a bit....

Also, side note: the exhaust turn-outs do not provide near enough back pressure for the engine to run well at all...I am going to have to put the factory pipes back on...

Any suggestions to create back pressure?

a restrictor plate... shove a disc in the pipe and weld it in place - keep drilling holes in the plate until you have the back preasure you wanted...

of course - back preasure isn't the whole story - pipe resonance is part of it too... if you get the pipe length, diameter and shape right you can get a standing wave setup inside the pipe - the lower preasure of the wave corresponds to the exhaust stroke...

Now - in your situation the plate should work - it is sort of how a super trap pipe works...
