    hey all,
the engine idles around 2000-2200 after the bike warms up. no issues when cold or start up. there is no interference issue with the throttle cable and assembly has full range of movement (fully retracts) regardless of engine temp.
could this be a pot hanging up or such?
the carbs where disassembled, cleaned, and re-assembled last yr when i got the bike. stock air filter is in place, straight pipe exhaust mounted this week (issue was present prior to removing stock exhaust).
the carbs have not been synchronized yet.
i'm taking all advice and comments....
    thanks!

Yes, you need to synchronize the carbs, then adjust the idle down. I had the same problem with mine until Isynched the carbs and it settled right down when I adjusted the idle. You are definetely out of balance or have an air leak somewhere.

Have you checked for air leaks around the butterfly shaft seals and carb to head boots. A proper carb sync is also needed.

seals looked good during rebuild but the carb to head boots do have some cracking. i guess i could spray carb cleaner around 'em and see if the engine revs...good advice!
the bike only had 8600 miles when i got it last yr. i'll try the sync route first but probably should get some new boots.
    does chacal carry 'em?
    thanks!

+1 on the Sync, it will cause all sorts of issues

I had the same problem as you. I kept messing with sync for way too long until I finally got a Colortune to adjust the idle mixture,,,WOW, high idle after warmup, GONE. Well, a lot of abnormal running issues went away. I should have done it right from the start.

    Chacal has Colortunes as well

    In Order:

-VALVE ADJUST (you won't get a good vac sync with a tight valve or three)

    -Bench sync

-Float levels adjusted using fuel and the "clear tube method"

-Carbs back on bike; running vac sync

    -Mixture tweaking/ColorTune

Skip anything or take any shortcuts and you'll be at it a while...

Could it be as simple as you HAVE to set your idle when the bike is at running temp. Like at least 30 mins of riding, set the idle THEN, 1050RPM

When you start the bike cold, that's what the choke is for, keep the revs up for idle until it's not needed for the bike to run.
