ok went to a swap meet today and found some really nice handle bars. got them home and went to put them on the bike and turns out they are 1 inch bars. my bike came with 7/8 inch bars. i was able to mount them on the bike and i love them. i can keep the front brake handle but i need a new clutch handle, throttle handle and turn signal switch thing. i need help finding this stuff i have no clue where to look, and am not really finding much. thank you

honestly i would just look for some 7/8 bars in the same style of the 1 inchers. it would probably be a lot less hassle and cheaper too. my .02

Yea I realize that it would be better using 7/8 bars, but I want all new controls anyways since all of mine are old and don't work that well. it can't be that hard to find controls that would work on a 1inch bar. I managed to break my clutch handle mounting bracket so I need a new one of those. I would prefer to just keep the bars and get new controls that are just basic. I don't need a starter switch or kill switch. so a normal throttle will be fine. I bought the bars for ten bucks so it gives me a cushion on replacing my controls. all I need to know is what bikes used a 1 inch bike.

sportster controls are nice, especially the newer oner with the separate turn signal buttons. they can be had for reasonable prices used.

You will find controls to fit your 1 inch bars, but none that will just plug in.

I am running controls from a Yamaha Royal Star (nice Aluminium ones), but had to do some rewiring, and no longer have handlebar choke control.

not worried about rewiring that's no problem. I will probably have to make something for the choke

There's tons of V-Star 1100 parts on "The Bay",
and you'd keep it all Yamaha so maybe the color coding of the wires might match.

You know - there's a difference between Master Cylinders that run single and double calipers - you'd be able to run dual front brakes.

You can't really have a "Metric Cruiser, Blatant-Copy-Of-A-Harley" without one inch bars, a leather tool pouch, and foot long tassles!!

whats that suppose to mean. am not trying to make my bike a harley, well i guess the screamin eagle pipes i just put on dont help but thats not the point. i paid 20 bucks for the bars and the screamin eagles. my exhaust was rotted out and it looks dam good now. i do wish the bars were 7/8 inch but to late. i put them on and they look good and feel good.

i was able to mount them on the bike. the master cylinder still attaches. next time i go work on it, i will mount the factory clutch on and find a way to bolt the factory turnsignal on. i have a new throttle coming that i only paid ten bucks for. so in the end i will only have 20 bucks in to putting these handle bars on. unless i find some good deals on new controls that fit my bike i will buy those. i dont see any problems with this

The point is, if you've decided on 1" bars, then you can make them work, but you have over-complicated things. There's tons of parts to make this mod work for you.

Yea I tend to make things complicated. I guess the main thing I was asking is what bikes used 1inch bars. I see mainly Harleys used them and a few other bikes did. I will be searching every where to find better turn signal controls.

IS it just Me or is the Maxim a Sportster copy? 8O Check Bikebandit and J&P Cycles they have lots of controls (that you'll probably have to modify) from high to low to fit your budget.

I think it looks like it sticks out further because it's straight, unlike most levers that have an offset or curve in them.

Depends on whether the cable ends are the same, otherwise you'll have to go with a different cable.
Can't tell from the picture if it'll be compatible.
Contact the vendor and ask him.
