This may have been covered before, if so please advise. I was riding yesterday for about 30 miles on a road that has a lot of patches and uneven pavement. I was bouncing around so much on the front end that my hands and arms felt numb. I just replaced the fork seals and everything looked fine inside. I made sure to add the proper amount of oil and the proper weight. I did not add air. Could that be the problem? I read something about progressive shocks for the front. Is anyone using them on a Maxim-X?

If you've got air shocks, they should have air in them for dampening -- try that first. You could also go a little heavier on the oil.
Next would be the springs - they do wear and get softer as they get older, causing 'spongy' forks. The most worthy upgrade there is a set of the Progressive springs - I've got them in my 650 and they are definitely worth it.

+1. Made a big difference in handling on my Seca 550; I'm going to upgrade the other bike to them as well.

OK, so this weekend I carefully added 10 lbs of air with a hand pump to the forks to see if this helps....or so I thought. Unfortunately, about 10 miles into my ride I realized I was taking a fork oil bath. Not only that but my front brakes are now soaked!

So now the question is this, did I add too much air and blow the seals or maybe I have the wrong seals? I bought the seals through Dennis Kirk.....I know, I know but at the time I didn't know chacal existed. What should I do now? Replace the seals again? Do I need the whole rebuild kit? Any help is appreciated!
