SOftening rubber boots?

    Ok, I've searched and searched, and apologize for not finding it...I KNOW I saw it somewhere.
    What do you do to the rubber intake boots from the air box to the carb to soften them more or less permanently without destroying them?

    Just use an old pan or get one from a thrift shop. Either way, don't do this with your wife around just in case! 8O

    Oh, c'mon it's only water. I can think of much worse things...

    Seriously though; you don't actually have to boil them; just get a big pot of water to a rolling boil, pull it off the heat and drop them in. When it cools down enough to retrieve them by hand you should be good. They remain much more pliable for quite a while.

    It certainly is. And since Meijer happened to be OUT of lemon juice that day, I used lime juice, and it worked great.

    ***Important note: That's a valve cover, not a rubber part*** the pic is from an article on refurbishing valve covers. A boil in lemon or lime juice is great for removing stains from aluminum as long as you don't overdo it and turn the whole thing grey.
