im sure one of you on here knows... i just bought an aftermarket speedometer from mikesxs and its got the wiring diagram for it, but on the stock setup on the xj, theres a black and blue wire for the backlight bulb, and then theres a green/white wire that goes into the center of the speedometer. anyone got a clue what that goes to? Im just wondering if i can bypass it, or if i have to splice it in with another wire..... not sure if its just another light or what. thanks in advance

Sure; it goes to the reedswitch for the self-cancelling unit.

There'a a reedswitch inside the stock speedo that provides a signal to the self-canceller to let it know the bike is in motion, it "pulses" with the rotation of the magnetic drum in the speedo. Just insulate the end of the lead wire and tuck it out of the way.

You're going to lose the self-cancelling feature; doubtful your aftermarket unit includes this part.
