as far as i understand, the seca tanks will fit. someone also mentioned awhile back that a cb750 tank can be made to fit as they had a similar triple backbone.

The Seca 750 tank has "mounting ears" that would need to be removed to look right. The Seca 650 tank is rare. The Maxim 650 tank works, but is a gallon smaller.

If your tank is "ruined" , you could fill it with sand and beat the sides in for a unique look, then Kreem it with POR 15.

Thanks for the quick replies. I think i will look into getting a seca tank. My tank is completely smashed. The top is pushed in and the right side has 4 big sharp dents. i would like to build a custom tank but i don't have the metal working tools to do it. i have 2 good welders and can get the sheet metal but no good tools for forming :(

Your clubmans never would have cleared the stock tank anyway. I had a set of drag bars that wouldn't clear the stock 750 tank. Just got a Seca tank in today, when I get a chance to test fit it I'll let you know how it works.

Would definitely like to see some pics, the bars must go way out in front of the triple tree? Guess I'll see once we see the pics. :D

Got my Seca tank in today, only had time to stick it on the bike. The tank is much shorter than the stock Maxim tank, looks like my drag bars will clear fine, but I still think I'd have a problem with clubmans or clip-ons.

I took some risers off of an old wrecked Yamaha triple and threaded the shaft on the risers then i drilled the 10mm holes in the triple clamp to 12mm and bolted the risers on. the pics are on here they don't show in depth but it may give you an idea of what i did http://s1101.photobucket.com/albums/g42 ... my%20bike/ how much too short is the tank? Would it look weird with the stock seat?

Ah, OK. Clubmans usually are installed upside down from the way you have yours set up, so that the bars are actually lower than the top triple tree. Those are very similar to the Seca bars that I have on mine, which clear the tank fine. The drag bars that I have are flat with a slight pull back., and they hit the tank pretty good.

The shortness I was talking about is actually the height of the tank right at the top triple tree area, the length where the seat mounts is roughly the same, but the front of your maxim seat won't match up with the tank. You'll either need to modify your maxim seat, or modify a seca seat to fit the maxim stuff.

I have a custom tail fairing on mine, so I was doing a custom seat pan anyway. I will be starting with a Seca seat pan and shorten it to fit the fairing.

ok I'm kinda trying to keep the seat the way it is. i got it recovered cheap because i have the connections from working at a dealership but it was still 130 dollars lol probably the thing to do would be to find a stock tank then?

Yep, and I'm pretty sure the Maxim 650 tank will swap without any other modifications, but it's small compared to the 750 tank. Same shape but quite a bit narrower (looking down at the top of the tank).
