    Hi everyone,

I've been poking around these forums for a couple of days now and it seems like you have a great community here and I look forward to being part of it.

Just bought my first bike today, an '81 XJSeca 750...kind of. After looking around on here, I found out how to decode my VINs. The frame is an '81 Seca 750 like I thought, but the engine code says it is from an '82 650 turbo. Should I be excited or disapointed by that? The little bit I know is that the turbos are pretty rare and harder to find parts for, but a little knowledge is a dangrous and horrible thing.

Here is a quick picture from my camera phone in my pre spring-cleaning garage:

Nice looking bike. First thing you should do is pull the back wheel off and check the brakes for delamination. Also check the date codes on the tires and make sure they aren't too old. You are gonna have a blast riding it.

    Welcome aboard Mike!
I can't comment on if the engine is good or not, but I'm sure you get all your questions answered here one way or another.
Keep an eye out for rides in your area this summer. Hopefully we can get the group together and do some riding as soon as the weather gets better.
