    Hey all,

this sounds really dumb, even typing it, it does.. i was staring at my bike just now and somthing looked odd, so i grabbed my hand book, my rear shocks are upside down... I got some stock shocks off E-Bay to replace some old blown up fox shocks that the PO may have installed, so when i installed them this past winter i just followed what was already on there...

    is this bad?

is this some secret that i do not know about ?

the bike had them upside down for years

Please don`t rib me to hard lol..

P.S the stock shocks would not accept the metal shim that was inside the other shocks rubber grommet area (THIS SHIM WAS THE EXACT SIZE OF THE POSTS ON THE BIKE..) in other words do i NEED to have that round metal shim in the grommet for the rear shock, right now it is just the rubber grommet ... it is a decent fit..

    thanks

You got me stumped. Why would you run a component in a position it is not designed to run in? The valving and such is set up to work with oil and pressurized gas (like nitrogen) but I'm unaware of what impact it would have to run them inverted. If they weren't gas charged I'd say your definitely crusin' for a brusin' but I don't know enough to argue against it. My gut tells me that it wasn't designed to be run that way so get it straightened out. Any other opinions?

funny you shoudl ask as i JUST took a test in my chassis class, on suspensions.

Pressurized gas shocks, are the only ones that can be used upside down. And yous aid htese were stock right? im fairly positive they are not pressurized gas, so flip those babies ASAP

    Brian,

I talked to the PO the other night, PO said that he was told to put these fox shocks, what would be upside down... what i did was replace aftermarket shocks with stock oem... and flipped them right side up... looks better now

    thanks you guys
