Rear Shock Adjustment

    OK what size is the special wrench for adjusting the rear shocks on my 83 XJ750???????

    There's a hook-like tool for setting the spring pre-load.
    You could use a Channel-Loc and a rag, or just Man-up and grab the thing and twist.

    My stock 82 shock has a post that you fit either the phillips or flat end screwdriver in from the tool kit and turn it.

    If that is not what you have, and it has the holes around the round part of the bottom of the shock you will need a shock adjuster tool. Any motorcycle shop should have them for sale.

    I just put a 5.5mm allen wrench in the adjustment hole in my 82 650 and it worked just fine. I've used phillips and flat head screwdrivers before too.

    Maybe mine are considerably different, but don't you have the little bit on the shock that allows you go get the leverage to just turn it?
