Mean.... Inline 6 cylinder is quite impressive but I would have to wonder what the fuel usage to power ratio is like.

$7600 with 5 days left in the auction? Holy crap. It looks brand spanking new, though.

I bet it's fun to do the valve shims on that thing...there's only 24 of them. 8O

Although I have asolutely no idea what the "fuel usage to power ratio" might be, an early CBX like that one makes a bit over 100HP at the back tire, and gave mid-to high 30mpg fuel economy ridden normally.

The valve shims very rarely needed adjustment after running in. The biggest common problem resulted when the owner parked the bike full of fuel and gunked up the carbs-you had to almost pull the engine in order to get the carbs out.

The CBX engine is essentially a large street legal version of the RC 166

So?...the discussion is not about "looks", it's about a relatively rare streetbike that has surfaced for sale...

The KZ1300 was a well-designed study in overkill that the marketplace ignored, so it Kawasaki let it fade away to die a quiet death a few years after being introduced. It was the wrong answer at the wrong time.

The Honda's gene pool won many world championships during the 60s', and was one of the biggest influences in 4-stroke racing during the decade that preceded the CBX.

The 1300cc Kawasaki dominated nada. However, all was not lost, as it did win several magazine awards for being heavy, wide, and overly complex for its' intended use. The engine should have been in a car, not a motorcycle.

I'll take power and handling over "looks" any time. You also never see a KZ1300 going for anywhere near the price for a decent CBX.

Up to $7600. Wonder what it went for new.

For that matter, what did our XJs go for in the early 80s?

A June 1981 Cycle World magazine article shows the suggested retail price of a XJ750Seca at $3199

1980's Honda power and handling coupled with rarity you need to look at the CB1100R not donkeys like the cbx or the kz all three of which I've rode and the only one to impress all round was the 1100 the other two well like i said donkeys

Looks like a sure bet to go 10K+.

Not too far from me. Maybe I should snap it up?

Cyls. 1 and 6 seem to stick out pretty wide. Could be real shin busters.

A buddy of mine had two CBX's. The BEST sounding motorcycle I have ever heard and huge amounts of power. Missed one that a guy was selling for $500.00 a few years ago.

    Cheers,

    Phil

I'd pay for a shot at riding that V-12 on the Autobahn for a few hours!
The video don't say too much about it's Performance ... but, I imagine it has NO Problem getting right up to Autobahn Speed right quick!
