I realize this will look pretty dumbed down for you XJ'ers, but I wrote this to post locally as well, so my apologies for insulting your intelligence, but thought i would post it on here as well to see if any of you guys are interested.

As a side note, thanks for all the help over the years.

    1982 XJ650J Yamaha Maxim EXCELLENT TRAINER/RESTORE

KANSAS CITY - KS or MO

    CLEAN KANSAS TITLE

Selling my beloved XJ650. My wife and I bought her several years ago to use as a trainer for her, and eventually to restore. But, as time has a way of doing, we now have a house, and a new bike, and my time to restore has passed. I drove this bike around a bit this spring, and we got a whim to get something bigger for the two of us, and we just DIT IT.

As you can see from the pictures and the title above, this is NOT A SHOW BIKE. If you are looking for a bike to hop on, and join a motorcycle club and get you're local Hooter's waitress to hold on tight, DO NOT CALL ME AND WASTE BOTH OUR TIME.

However, if you are looking for a good strong bike that will start when you want it too, still do 100mph, and get you ready for a big bike this is for you. If you love the classic Japanese inline 4's and want to restore her to her former glory, then this is your bike. (That's you XJBikes.com users!)

    The Gritty Details:

    Plus's:
    -------
Completely re did the the carbs last Fall/Winter, and the bike runs like a bat out of H@11. Excellent strong running.

Mechanically, the bike is awesome. No funny noises, ticks, clicks or anything.

New Battery a year ago, taken out and stored inside in cold weather.

Engine Oil and Differential Oil changed every 3K/5K respectively

    Minus's
    ---------
The biggest draw back to this bike is the exhaust. The idiot previous owner thought it would be cool to weld Honda shadow pipes on it. Well, he did a poor job, and they are loose. Not in danger of coming off, but not pretty either. My solution was to cover them w/ exhaust wrap, but didn't follow up on it cause I didn't want it to look like I was hiding it when I sold it. Bottom line, they are ugly, non-oem, but they work.

Turn signals - also a throw back from the previous owner. They work, but don't flash. This is because they don't draw enough to make the flasher blink, but the originals are included (pictured) and they work and flash and work w/ the auto cancel.

Foot Brake switch - broken - new in package (pictured) can install with almost no tools whatsoever.

Left front fork seal - no good, leaking a bit. New premium grade fork seals/and dust boots on the way from XJForever. They go w/ the bike, no charge.

The Fender is removed only from the recent brake upgrade, and we liked the look of it w/o it, so we left it off. Good shape.

Also inluded is the grab bag of accessories. Extra break and clutch lever, two new plugs, spare set of coils, extra wiring harness, orignal turn signals for rear. Most of which was just left w/the bike from the previous owner, some was just extras from my maintenance.

Thanks for looking, any questions, email me.

600 doesn't seem bad, too bad you're so far away from me. I'm sure someone will grab it if they know what they are looking at. Not sure about the whole "trainer" thing, 650 is a respectable bike imo, but if you've moved on or up I should say, I can see why you might say that.

Agreed. What is a shame, is that I bet I could make that much if I parted it out, but I really don't want to do that... it feels like... betrayal... after she did so much for me...

Although, she was already giving me the "look" cause my other two bikes are Honda's......
