I changed to a round headlight off a XJ550 to replace the square on my XJ750.....

looking for some wind protection but I don't like the look of the 4 foot tall winscreens I have seen online...

has anyone out there found one that will fit my application and still be a little low profile?

    Thanks!

This is still pretty tall. I found it on xjbikes and the member sent it to me.
Ive seen smaller but, its a matter of taste.

You can cut down any of these windscreens to your liking.

Apply masking tape to protect from scratches,
draw a curved line using pencil and string,
cut with saber saw or angle grinder,
finish with a sanding block - done!

I did consider trimming one down, I was just hoping I could find one that was to my liking without modification.... Thanks for the suggestions guys!

If the pictured windshield is too large for you, you should look for "flyscreen" (or sometimes "fly screen"). This may be the size screen you are looking for.

I'm in the process of constructing a flyscreen for my SR250. I got a replacement windshield for a pocketbike off ebay ($4) and will use some aluminum strapping material to construct two side holders to attach to the upside-down pocketbike screen (wide part at bottom, pointy part at top). It will make a very small flyscreen (to just hide the OEM speedo).

If you go small, you WILL be disappointed with the wind protection you receive.

I got the S-06 SpitFire made by Slip Streamer and if it were any smaller I don't think I would care for it. I found it to be the perfect size. Just big enough to block the wind from your upper body. You can view it here... It is the top one - http://www.slipstreamer.com/Product/Sport/sport.html .
They make them clear or tinted but I like the tinted to keep down the glare on your gauges.
Anyway, it only measures 15" H x 17 1/2" W. I think you would be pretty happy with it. I know I am with mine.

The spitfire makes for a very comfortable ride. Cuts down on wind (and bugs) without interfering with visibility. Only problem I ever had was loose screws...

Loose screws?!! You need a different partner! LOL

OK, but seriously. Size matters...I mean with windshields too. Once you go with a larger one (windshield) you won't like anything smaller. There's seems to be some much wind spinning around behind them smaller ones (for me anyway) and I could find one that fit just right. Maybe it's just me...

I found a spitfire on ebay for 40 bucks...thinking I am going to order it and try it out...My only concern is will the Atari interfere with the windscreen?

It should fit around the Atari quite nicely, actually. Had it on my Seca. Never tried it on the Maxim, though.

The wing nuts holding the posts tended to vibrate loose on me. Had one land in my lap one day.

$40 is a good price. I paid $60 for mine, new.

I bought a Spitfire for me XJ. First thing I put on it. It workd good for me. Then I had a battle with gravity. Grafity won, but only the windshield broke. I am now looking at the slipstreamer Hell fire. Any one have or has used one?
    Thanks
