if any of you know how to set the levels in the bowl or have a colortune THAT would be fan-friggin-tastic!

I've set the float levels many times. It can take a lot to time to get them just right. There's plenty of threads going on right now on the subject. It's not very hard just sometimes a pain.

    I don't have a colortune.

Are we working or just riding?

Doesn't matter to me either way but I don't know if a home depot parking lot 40 something miles from everyones home is the best place to be taking apart bikes unnecessarily.

We got 40% chance of rain on Sunday right now.
Everyone keep their fingers crossed and maybe we can knock that down a bit!

As for prior posts, I thought we were just riding, if someone wants to work on bikes thats fine, but like iwin said Home Depot is a bad place to do it haha.

guess we will do an update on saturday and we can make a group decision about whether or not to re-schedule this.

Looks like I'm out for Sunday We were trying to tune her up after doing the valves and carbs and found the throttle cable is sticking. I need to order a new one from Chacal. Hopefully I can make the next one.

on that note, i am planning on selling my XJ to a buddy of mine for $1000 but if anyone of you local guys want a 1982 XJ 650 with tons of extra parts, let me know. You are all aware it has hard cold starts, so there isnt anything to hide.

full rundown of the beast is:
    wrapped headers
    harley sportster mufflers
    new rear pirelli tire
custom front fender (have another spare plain and a chrome fender)
    H4 light conversion
    and european bars

the list of extra parts is endless
    front brake caliper
    chrome front fender
unpainted front fender and rear fender
    complete carb
    old handlebars
    old headlight
    old gauges
    tons of electronic bits
spare tube (even though the tires are tubeless)
    headlight bracket
    spare left side plastic peice
    throttle controls
    old mirrors
tons of other stuff i cant think of

anyways, let me know if you want any of it or wanna buy the bike

whats the forecast saying now....I'm taking my bike in for inspection on the 7th. Was the only day I can do it, so there is a chance that regardless of weather I won't have it back on Sunday if they take issue with anything. Hopefully though its in and out the same day.

Last I looked it was clear and 71 on saturday showers on sunday. Maybe they'll push into monday.

Does PA not do historic plates? I put historic on mine here in MD no inspections.

depends on the interpretation of occasional...but since any ambiguous language should be interpreted in my favor (per case law).....

Permitted use shall be limited to participation in club activities, exhibits, tours, parades, occasional transportation and similar uses....

What constitutes occasional transportation? If I ride it in to work three days a week to me that would be occasional. I think I'll be applying for this next year.

I am taking it in Saturday regardless to have a health check done on the bike. I'm scheduled to ride to Virginia Beach and back next week (over three days) and I'll feel better getting a clean bill of health from a more experienced mechanic than myself. ALso since the plate would take a while to process i can be ticketed for being out of inspection in the meantime....

Thanks for mentioning...I forget how old the bike is.

    No problem. Glad to help.

And who says a club must have more than one member? Just start your own one man club then you're always headed to, or from a club event.

Inspection here is only done at title transfer but it is a total racket.

If I can't see a list for what a given vehicle is required to have and at what dimensions (for brakes, tie rod play, etc) then how can I be told it failed to meet the requirements of the list that doesn't exist? And there is no appeal process.

thats a really good point. Inspection is a racket here as well...or at least thats been my experience with my cars. The mechanics I have work on my bike are the first mechanics I've ever used for any vehicle that I've trusted. Not to say they still don't overcharge me, but I they've never said to replace something unless it was a safety issue or my own request. I am having trouble changing out my alternator brushes and doin some other "simple" projects so I'm just gonna have them knock those out as well since i got the parts I'll just pay labor and be done with it. I like trying to fix things, but I'm not good at it, and ultimately I prefer to spend more time riding my bike than working on it.

First shop I took my truck to failed it for being lifted. There is no law against lifted trucks in MD. A bumper height law, yes, and it is under that height.

He said put it back to stock and I'll pass it otherwise it fails. $60 down the tubes. Had to find a different guy who better followed the law and pay another fee.

Well hopefully we didn't miss anyone.

No one got back to me saying they were coming so Otter and I rode out that direction got near the $5 toll and decided it wasn't worth it without meeting someone on the other side, so we turned back then had lunch.

A great day for a ride, the weather was nice, bikes ran great, plenty of other bikes out to see.

I'm down to ride. I checked the map though and there's no way for us MD'ers to get over the river with out the toll we turned around at. Not a problem just didn't think 40 had a toll.
